Happy Family

Providence Lake Welcomes the Rivard Family

Providence Lake visited the Rivards early in May 2010 and we were welcomed by their very friendly dog “Marley”, and an empty living room. Rita invited us in reporting “Well, I would ask you to sit down but the furniture for this room arrives next week” she said with a laugh. Rita, Ross, Mikenna and Alek moved into their new home at Providence Lake in mid-March and are still settling in.

“This whole experience has been a godsend”, Ross reports as he looks at wife Rita. “I got laid off from my job in Wisconsin but I found a great marketing position in West Michigan with Lacks Enterprises. We weren’t sure how long I would have to be separate from the family but our house in Milwaukee sold quickly. Rita started the house search within the area close to Mikenna’s and Alek’s school and she quickly found this house online on the Providence Lake web page. It was the first house she found and you can see it ended up being our final choice.”

The family reported that they looked at five to six houses but when they arrived at their new home, Rita walked in and said, “I love it, I love it, I love it!” So while they continued to look, it was very clear this was to be their new home. “We liked the craftsman style and the view of the water, but the neighbors clinched the deal. We haven’t had a neighborhood like this for a while and we love it!” reports Rita, a nurse and avid cyclist who looks forward to getting out this spring and exploring the amenities of the region.

When we asked them what was the greatest surprise about the community they reported that they were the most impressed with how smooth the whole transition has gone. “From the purchasing and closing on the house, to the kids adapting to the school and our easy acceptance into the neighborhood, it’s been amazing.”

“Maybe it’s because we are all new to Providence Lake community that we immediately all have bonded. There aren’t any cliques or barriers” the Rivards continued. “Everyone feels free to ask to borrow a cup of sugar, a lawn mower, whatever.”

The arrival of the Rivards has another significance; Mikenna and Alek are old enough to be babysitters and the neighborhood is filled with children under 10 whose parents are looking forward to that very convenient resource. Mikenna, an active teen who enjoys competitive dance and track, is an outgoing person who can easily handle her theatrical older brother Alex who told Providence Lake that he is taking a semester off from sports to focus on his grades and the transition to the new high school. He first mentioned tennis as the sport of choice, but he has been active in many sports.

Marley, the energetic four-legged greeter, appears to also have adjusted to the new address and is certainly part of our future features on the “Pets of Providence Lake”.

We welcome the Rivards and look forward to how they continue to bless our community.
