“It was Thanksgiving weekend last year, and as we were moving our furniture from the truck to the house, we see a gang of kids coming down the street. They affectionately swarmed around our two boys, Brady and Carter, and swept them away to play.” Andrew and Jacyln Ahearne recounted their Providence Lake moving story, and continued by telling us how happy they were to learn that there were 27 kids on their street, 23 of them under the age of ten. “You do the best you can to research a neighborhood, but it was a pleasant surprise and it continues to be a great neighborhood,” Jacyln added.
“We know everyone on the street,” Andrew said. “We have lived many places but this is a first.” The family told us about the holiday get-togethers, the girls’ Bunko night, and the old fashioned neighborhood feeling the street has. “When I come home from work everyday, driving down the street, I ask myself, ‘I wonder where my kids are playing today’ or ‘I wonder who is at our house playing,’” Jacyln laughed. As a busy IT executive with Perrigo in Allegan, she is very pleased that Providence Lake offers such a haven for her family.
When we asked about their choice to live at Providence Lake, they responded with what sounded like a “where else?” answer. They listed the Byron Center schools as a top priority and then the house amenities: a three stall garage, at least three bedrooms and an open kitchen, living room and dining room plan. “This was a Ledger Builders house, and we have been following their work and like their homes. Jim (Ogg, Developer) has done a terrific job maintaining a standard in design and quality. We love the aesthetic appeal of the street,” Andrew added.

When we asked them about Providence Lake being the ideal community, they replied, “Well, there is one thing we had to adjust to. There are a lot of “shoppers” that drive through daily. Providence Lake gets a lot of tourists and we just have to make sure the kids look both ways before they run across the street, but we are proud to show off our neighborhood.”
Providence Lake is proud of all of their families. Thank you Andrew, Jacyln, Brady and Carter for talking to us and welcome to the neighborhood.
